Faith in action
Using every opportunity to serve.
Pastor Lusk believed that faith was meant to be lived, not simply professed. Throughout his life, he used every opportunity to remove barriers, create opportunities, and invest in children and families.
His journey took him from the football field to the pulpit, from founding organizations that transformed communities to leading humanitarian efforts across seven African nations. Whether serving as a pastor, social entrepreneur, humanitarian, or bridge-builder connecting the faith, corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors, his mission remained the same: helping people discover hope, opportunity, and their God-given potential.

Chester
Answering the Call
Pastor Lusk's connection to Chester began years before his involvement with the school. As a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, he attended training camp at Widener University and developed a lasting appreciation for the community.
When Frederick Douglass Christian School faced closure in 2014, he answered the call to preserve its mission.
Over the next eight years, Pastor Lusk became one of the school's greatest champions, securing partnerships, raising critical support, and establishing the annual Herb Lusk Golf Classic for Children to help ensure the school's future.
His leadership helped preserve more than a school—it preserved opportunity for generations of children.
