A Message from Pastor Herb Lusk, III
What an exciting time to be part of our school community!
As we move from Frederick Douglass Christian School into the next chapter as The Herb Lusk Christian Leadership Academy, we are building on a proud legacy while preparing boldly for the future.
The Academy is named in honor of my father, the Reverend Dr. Herbert H. Lusk, II, whose life reflected a deep commitment to faith, service, perseverance, and creating opportunity. His example continues to inspire our vision for a school where children are encouraged to discover their gifts, develop strong character, grow in faith, and become leaders who make a lasting difference.
Our five pillars, Faith-Filled, Courageous, Servant-Hearted, Purpose-Driven, and Resilient are rooted in that legacy. Together, they help us develop Legacy Builders: young people who strengthen their communities and leave things better than they found them.
We invite you to explore our Academy, connect with our team, and see how we are preparing children to lead with purpose, compassion, and confidence.
As my father lived his life by a principle inspired by Shamgar in the Bible:
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do all you can.
That is the spirit we are carrying forward as we prepare the next generation.
With gratitude and purpose,
Pastor Herb Lusk, III
